Since 2000, Dr. Elissa Weeden has served as the Faculty Advisor for the Delta Alpha Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi at Rochester Institute of Technology, guiding hundreds of students through their collegiate journeys and beyond. Inducted as an Honorary Member in 2000 with roll number #70, her early and lasting impact on the Chapter is undeniable. Known for her compassionate and empowering mentorship, Dr. Weeden helps students navigate challenges, build confidence, and grow into leaders. Her support extends beyond academics, often touching lives during personal milestones and hardships. Even after a serious accident, she remained committed to the Chapter, ensuring continuity and returning to her role with grace and dedication. As the Chapter’s historian and connector, she preserves its legacy through memorabilia and relationships, linking current members with alumni and past leaders to foster continuity and inspiration. Her dedication to philanthropy is equally impactful—she helped revive Karen’s Walk, a cherished tradition, and inspired new fundraising efforts for causes like the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dr. Weeden holds a Ph.D. in Computing Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University, along with both a B.S. and M.S. in Information Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. As an Associate Professor at RIT with over 25 years of teaching experience, she has led curriculum development in accessibility, databases, and computing education. Her scholarly work spans accessibility, AI in education, and inclusive learning, and she has received multiple grants—including NSF and RIT awards—while presenting at international conferences.
