- Founded in 1978 after the Professional Interfraternity Conference (PIC) and Professional Panhellenic Association (PPA) merged.
- The original councils date back to the 1920s.
- Operate related charitable (501c3) organizations to fully serve the scholastic, leadership, professional development, and charitable goals and mission of the fraternal organizations.
- Collectively member groups have initiated over 2.5 million members in professional fields such as agriculture, business, engineering, law, medicine, the arts, pharmacy, and more.
