Dr. Patrick Herron Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity
Dr. Patrick D. Herron is a Clinical Ethicist for the Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Family & Social Medicine and Epidemiology & Population Health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Clinical Bioethics from Loyola University Chicago, a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
While an undergraduate, he was inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. He served as a chapter officer and upon graduation became active in Phi Sigma Pi’s National Alumni Association. Dr. Herron volunteered his time as a chapter advisor and as a member of several national committees. He was elected and served on Phi Sigma Pi’s National Council as Vice President of Membership Development from 2004-2010 and then later as Vice President of Philanthropy Development from 2014-2018.
He is a founding member of the Phi Sigma Pi Foundation. In recognition for his dedication and contributions, Dr. Herron has been awarded Chapter Service Keys from his alma mater and the New York Metropolitan Area Alumni Chapter. He is also the recipient of the Rolla F. Wood Graduate Scholarship, a Distinguished Service Key, and an Alumni Tripod Excellence Award from the fraternity’s National Council and Staff.
In addition to his continued participation and philanthropic support as an alumnus of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Dr. Herron serves as Chair Emeritus of the Ethics and Humanities Educators in Health Professions and Residency Training Affinity Group for the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, on the Advisory Board for Medical Student Pride Alliance, and Executive Planning Committee for Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians' annual LGBT Health Workforce Conference. He is also a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Hospital Ethics and holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Family Medicine for Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Herron and his husband, Jonah, are avid amateur bakers who competed on NBC Peacock’s first season of the reality baking competition television show, Baking It! They currently live in the Bronx, New York.
